Free or Almost Free

If you want to see Miami on the cheap, you'll be pleasantly surprised to find a number of free attractions as well as other sights that are free on certain days of the week. Arch Creek Park and Museum, where you can take naturalist-guided tours and inspect a natural stone bridge used by ancient Native Americans, is always free. So is the Pelican Harbor Seabird Rescue Station, where injured birds are nursed back to health. The Miami Beach Botanical Garden is a free urban oasis, while across the street is the stunning outdoor Holocaust Memorial, for which donations are welcome but not required. Weekdays are free at Greynolds Park, with bike and nature trails and guided bird walks. Housed in a former synagogue, the Jewish Museum of Florida is free on Saturday. Don't miss the art-deco chandeliers and impressive stained-glass windows. Admission to the Museum of Contemporary Art is by donation on Tuesday and the last Friday night of the month (in conjunction with Jazz at MOCA).
