Flying in Miami

Flying

Leave parasailing for the less imaginative. To really get a bird's-eye view of Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline, drop the tow line and take a tandem flight more than 1,000 feet in the air with Miami Hang Gliding. A non-flying (chicken) companion can ride along in the launch boat at no charge. The company divides its time between its central Florida site near Lake Okeechobee and Miami, so summer is the best time to catch them in town. Call for location. Coconut Grove. 305/285-8978. www.miamihanggliding.com. $95 per person.

Ultralight Adventures offers a way to scope out the city without fighting traffic. Their small seaplanes travel a variety of routes over the waters surrounding Key Biscayne, Coconut Grove, South Beach, and downtown. Pick one or mix and match. 3401 Rickenbacker Causeway, Virginia Key. 305/361-3909. www.ultralightadventures.com. $70-$180.
