Days Inn South Beach

Fodor's Review:

Wedged, improbably, in the space that should by sheer size and might belong to the Setai, which towers above and around it, this cheesy little Days Inn has managed to hold on to its claim to prime beachfront (someone's not selling). Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be taking full advantage of its privileged location. The big pool, which should have amazing ocean views right next to the boardwalk, is fenced in so no views are possible. To reach the sand you have to walk back out through the lobby and down 30 steps. The lobby itself is like a bad parody of Miami Beach, with a big sunset mural, a bridge over a fountain, and a dozen old-fashioned lampposts. But if you're in the right frame of mind, meaning you're willing to put up with mediocre rooms and service, you can get beachfront accommodations for a little more than $100 a room. Spend a little extra for one of the 30 oceanfront rooms with balconies. Pros: cheap beachfront rooms. Cons: cheesy, older hotel with spotty service.
