Fodor's Review:

You can trace the fact that this is one of the sweetest, quietest hotels in South Beach to the ways of its independent female owner. (There are very few privately owned hotels here anymore.) The placid patio-garden is the perfect spot to enjoy a full breakfast. Little touches, like candles in the lobby, fresh flowers all around, 600-thread-count sheets, and small pouches that contain fresh lavender or seashells, depending on the season, show the care and sophistication that are of utmost importance here. The boutique hotel is two blocks from Lincoln Road and the beach, across the street from Casa Tua, and yet you feel like a local resident when you stay here. Clark Gable stayed in Room 225 when he came to Miami for Army Air Corps training in the 1940s; he'd been enrolled at West Point, and thus the hotel's name. Pros: well run with friendly service; lovely garden; great value. Cons: no pool.

Right in the middle of all South Beach's action, this quaint little art-deco gem is a good value. My room was small but comfortable and a had a few problems with cleanliness (I had to have the maid come back and clean the tub)and service (if you want ice sent to your room prepare to wait). But I had a pleasant stay. The staff is pleasant and being a classic movie fan, I loved the Clark Gable connection.
