In leafy Miami Lakes, about 14 mi northwest of downtown Miami, the hotel is part of the Main Street shopping, dining, and entertainment complex. The golf club, with par-72 senator and par-3 executive courses, is less than a mile away. Both wings have rooms with sports prints, and a shuttle runs between them and all around the 500-acre property. If you're not teeing off, you can work out or play tennis in the hotel's 40,000-square-foot athletic club. Need to fortify yourself with some protein? Don Shula's Steak House serves hefty cuts of prime beef in an atmosphere that can best be described as "football elegant." You wouldn't stay here unless you had business nearby, but if you do, this is the best option around. Pros: good golf; fun sports atmosphere; unpretentious vibe. Cons: suburban location; far from beaches and entertainment.
