Ocean Surf Hotel

Fodor's Review:

Don't expect luxury in this colorful Art Deco lodge, but if you want a cheap stay away from everybody and ideal beach access, you can't beat the tiny Ocean Surf Hotel. The hotel is on a cute one-block stretch called Ocean Terrace that's directly across the street from the beach. The area will feel like your secret. There's also a small Days Inn here, but the Ocean Surf has more Art Deco charm. Sure the beds are squishy and look like they're 20 years old, and frankly the hallways are small and humid, but where else will you stay across from the beach for $80 a night? The location off 74th Street puts this quiet hotel well out of the reach of boisterous South Beach. Add in free continental breakfast, and you've got a great crash pad for a low-key vacation. Pros: adorable Art Deco hotel; cheap, free continental breakfast. Cons: basic rooms; no Internet; spotty service.

  • Hotel Details: 49 rooms
  • In-room: safe, refrigerator, Wi-Fi.
  • In-hotel: beachfront, parking (paid).
  • Rate includes: Continental breakfast
  • Credit Cards: AE, MC, V
