After significant hurricane damage in 2004, this oceanfront hotel underwent an $8-million top-to-bottom renovation. Guest rooms are West Indies–inspired, with dark oak furniture, colorful tropical prints, and cheerful yellow walls. Most rooms are oceanfront, with superb water views and private balconies. The five-story hotel is a favorite of families as well as Orlandoans on weekend getaways, as are the chain's famous chocolate-chip cookies. Pros: Private beach, refrigerator and microwave in every room, comfy beds. Cons: Extra charge for beach-chair rental, loud a/c in some rooms, roof views.
