Unfortunately, the trademark of this high-rise resort on the Intracoastal Waterway -- the rooftop Pier Top Lounge -- has closed, and is now a banquet-meeting space for private soirees. Still, the 17-story tower dominates a lovely 22-acre spread that includes Spa 66, a full-service European-style spa. Each room has a balcony with views of the 142-slip marina, pool, ocean, or intracoastal. Some guests prefer the ground-level lanai rooms. Lush landscaping and convenience to the beach, shopping, and restaurants add to overall allure. Hail the water bus at the resort's dock for access to downtown or the beach.
