With a machine about the size of an old home-style Mixmaster cranking out 1,000 pounds of cornmeal tortillas daily (double that on weekends) as you watch, the tiny hole-in-the-wall Tortilleria Mexicana, near Oakland Park City Hall, has authentic fare that attracts Broward's growing Mexican population and plenty of gringos to boot. Try such staples as tacos, tamales, chicken with rice and beans, enchiladas, quesadillas, and flautas with chicken, salad, and hot pepper slices. Owner Eliseo Martinez opened a second tortilla haven, in Pompano Beach, this one with a bakery and butcher shop.
