$$$$, Fort Lauderdale
Fodor's Review:
Functional but elegant is the principle behind this luxury condo hotel, a Starwood newcomer steps from Las Olas Boulevard and the Atlantic beyond. In lieu of having you hunch over the front desk, staffers check you in one-on-one while you sip an icy libation in the lobby, a marriage of marble and wood, beiges and browns. This British-colonial scheme is picked up in the spacious, unfussy rooms, which have simple, dark-wood furniture, ample marble kitchen areas, and creamy fabrics and plush carpeting that smartly frame rather than compete with the main event -- balcony views of the city or ocean (go for the latter). Little in-room touches include Bose Wave CD/radio systems and a host of Internet connection options; among on-premises amenities are a European-style spa offering treatments and massages within the spa or in-room, and the tony Trina lounge and restaurant, or Spuma, for light fare with a pool view.
