Bonnet House

Fodor's Review:

A 35-acre oasis in the heart of the beach area, this subtropical estate stands as a tribute to the history of Old South Florida. The charming home was the winter residence of the late Frederic and Evelyn Bartlett, artists whose personal touches and small surprises are evident throughout. For architecture, artwork, or the natural environment, this place is special. Be on the lookout for playful monkeys swinging from trees, a source of amusement at even some of the most solemn weddings on the grounds. Hours can vary, so call first.

  • Cost: $20 for house tours, $10 for grounds only
  • Open: Tues.-Sat. 10-4, Sun. noon-4
