Broward County Main Library

Fodor's Review:

One of more than 30 libraries in the Broward County system, this eight-story building of Florida limestone with a terraced glass facade that stood up remarkably well to hurricane-force winds was designed by Marcel Breuer to showcase the green leafy surrounding environment, outdoor plaza and reflecting pool. Works are displayed here from Broward's Public Art and Design Program, including paintings, sculpture, photographs, and weavings by nationally renowned and Florida artists. A technology center has personal computers for public use and devices for patrons with disabilities. A 300-seat theater hosts productions from theater to poetry readings.

  • Cost: Free
