Carlos & Pepe's . In a strip shopping center west of the 17th Causeway, this local favorite has long been known for icy margaritas, crunchy chips and salsa, and tasty fare from omelets to pizza. On the downside, its icon margaritas for the past few years have been served in beer-style tumblers rather than stemmed margarita ware of old. (Management mumbles about breakage.) On the upside, the tuna dip that goes so well with libations retains its luster.

Carlos and Pepe's has been a Ft. Lauderdale favorite of ours for many years. I do agree with Fodor's on the margarita glasses. The Super Nacho's remain THE item to order...they are individual little works of art! Homemade tortilla chips (about 11) spread with refried beans, slathered with Colby and Monteray Jack cheese, guacamole and sour cream. Optional jalopena slices aside. Top with their salsa already on the table. To DIE for. We drive from Naples (the other coast of Florida!) for them.Had a friend that used to fly back north with an order to go! The best.
