Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six Resort & Spa Review

Don't let the '70s exterior of the iconic 17-story tower fool you; this lovely 22-acre resort teems with contemporary interior-design sophistication (after a successful $40 million renovation of guest rooms and public spaces), and remains one of Florida's few hotels where a rental car isn't necessary.

Guest rooms are spread between the principal tower and two-story bungalow buildings, called East Lanai and West Lanai. Regardless of location, each room flaunts a balcony with views of the 142-slip marina, pool, ocean, or Intracoastal Waterway. The "deluxe lanai" rooms of the West building are exceptionally well appointed, with beautiful dark-wood furnishings, luxurious plantation shutters, and chic accessories, mirroring the stylish edge of the spacious lobby. With two full-size designer swimming pools, a 30-person hydrotherapy whirlpool, a 24-hour state-of-the-art gymnasium, tennis courts, a decadent spa, a full-service aquatic center, and six dining outlets, this is a true resort. Few patrons find it necessary to rent a car, given the complimentary shuttle to the beach and downtown, and the Water Taxi station at the resort's dock.
