Deerfield Island Park

Fodor's Review:

Reached only by boat, this officially designated Urban Wilderness Area showcases coastal hammock island and contains a mangrove swamp that provides a critical habitat for gopher tortoises, gray foxes, raccoons, and armadillos. Boat shuttles run 9-5 on weekends, and weekdays with advance reservations. Amenities include a boardwalk, walking trails, and an observation tower.
