Fort Lauderdale and Broward County Sights

Deerfield Island Park

Deerfield Island Park Review

Reached only by boat (and with a new dock in the works for vessels longer than 25 feet), this officially designated Urban Wilderness Area showcases coastal hammock island and contains a mangrove swamp that provides a critical habitat for gopher tortoises, gray foxes, raccoons, and armadillos. County-operated boat shuttles run 10-3 on weekends (on the hour only). Amenities include a boardwalk, walking trails, and an observation tower.
