Fodor's Review

Reached only by boat, this officially designated Urban Wilderness Area showcases coastal hammock island and contains a mangrove swamp that provides a critical habitat for manatees, gopher tortoises, gray foxes, raccoons, and armadillos. County-operated boat shuttles run from the dock at Sullivan Park 10–3 on weekends (on the hour only). Shuttles return to the mainland on the half-hour, with the last one departing the island at 4:30 pm. Amenities include two nature trails,

one of which is a boardwalk, while the other leads to an observation platform.
