Miccosukee Resort & Convention Center

$$, Tamiami Trail

Fodor's Review:

Big-name entertainers, major sporting events, and gaming draw crowds to this nine-story resort at the crossroads of Tamiami Trail and Krome Avenue. Like an oasis on the horizon, it's the only facility for miles, and it's situated to attract the attention of travelers going to the Everglades, driving across the state, or looking for casino action. The casino occupies the lobby, making for a cigarette-smoky welcome as visitors enter to check in. Most units have a view of Everglades saw grass and wildlife. In addition to an enormous indoor play area for children and a game arcade for teens and 'tweens, there are tours to Everglades National Park and the Miccosukee Indian Village, shuttles to area malls, and a golf course about 9 mi away. Pros: casino, most modern resort in these parts, golf. Cons: cigarette smell in lobby, parking lot fills with gamblers, doesn't feel compatible with the Everglades.
