Nature trails, biking, camping, and canoeing into Everglades territory make Collier-Seminole State Park an easy introduction to this often forbidding land. Of historical interest, a Seminole War blockhouse has been re-created to hold the interpretative center, and one of the "walking dredges" -- invented to carve the Tamiami Trail out of the muck -- adorns the grounds.
