Fodor's Review

From the street, A&D is camouflaged with a front window brimming with houseplants and an old bicycle. Don't be fooled. Inside, you'll find a friendly bar serving a young, fashionably relaxed crowd some of the best cocktails in town. (Be sure to try the namesake cocktail, a tangy and tart twist on a dirty martini with gin instead of vermouth and a juice blend made in-house from olives, cornichons, and pickled onions.) Happy hour starts off mellow, but the place is often jumping in the later hours. And while other trendy spots are still offering the game on TV, A&D's only sports action is the foosball table in the back room. If you're hungry, and want more than the few variations on bar staples and snacks (from "potato chips poutine" to chicken potpie), bring in a sandwich from the bar's sister gourmet Sundevich in the adjacent alley. Closed Sunday.
