Washington, D.C. Nightlife

HR-57

HR-57 Review

Named after a congressional resolution proclaiming jazz a "rare and valuable national treasure," HR-57 isn't just a club, it's a nonprofit cultural center. It spotlights musicians based in the D.C. area, many of whom have national followings. Fried chicken and collard greens are on the menu; beer and wine are available, or bring your own bottle (corkage is $3 per person). Open Wednesday through Saturday, weeknights feature jam sessions by local artists, and big names sometimes join in on the weekends. The warm and relaxed atmosphere make this place worth a visit.
