Palomar, Washington, D.C Review

Aside from the hard-to-beat location, these muted, chocolate-beige rooms are some of the largest in town and are decorated with cool animal prints (think tiger-striped robes, crocodile-patterned carpets, and faux-lynx throws) and plush purple and fuchsia furnishings. Bathrooms in some rooms and suites have Fuji soaking tubs for two and white Italian marble accents. The heated outdoor pool is the place to be during the summer months, and the fitness center is open around the clock. Guests are treated to free coffee and wine, the in-house Urbana Restaurant and Wine Bar is a local favorite, and many other restaurants and bars are just outside the door. Ask for one of the corner rooms, which are as big as suites.

    Palomar Washington DC--Another Kimpton standout

Great Washington DC location--3 blocks from the DuPont Circle Metro, walking distance to Georgetown, GWU, restaurants, sights. While it's bustling outside, the Palomar is a quiet boutique hotel that lives up the to Kimpton brand for service. Rooms are spacious, fresh and well-appointed. The restaurant is good, not too busy. I like to sit in the lobby by the fireplace with a cup of tea and watch the world wander up the street. As in InTouch member, I usually look for Kimpton Hotels, and the Palomar meets the "Welcome back, how can we be of service" atmosphere that Kimpton is known for.
