The Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City Review

The feel is more contemporary and casually chic than one might associate with this luxury chain, and the large guest rooms shine in gold, yellow, and blue. A shopping mall is attached, Ronald Reagan National Airport is a short cab ride away, and Downtown D.C. is easy to reach on the nearby Metro. Weekend afternoon tea is popular.

Excellent location, very good hotel overall

The Ritz Pentagon City is a very good DC choice, even though it's just outside of the city, because it's located right next to a metro station. We never rented a car or taxi while there, even to and from the airport, because the metro was so very convenient, and we zipped in and out of DC very quickly. Rooms just finished a pretty thorough renovation in January 2007, and though they're not quite luxurious, and don't wow you when you walk in the door, they are very comfortable, with great beds, flat screen tvs and small but very pretty and functional bathrooms. We stayed on the club level while there, and I don't think it may have been the best deal -- breakfast was pretty sparse, and so were evening appetizers. On the plus side, though, the lunch had good sandwiches, and the wine offered is also a very nice quality. And, the club lounge is a very pleasant place to relax, and was never overcrowded when we were there. We would have saved a lot of money not staying club level, though. Service was very good, not stellar. Not a 5 star hotel, but maybe a 4 1/2 star.
