This cozy B&B spreads through three residential town houses near Adams-Morgan, the zoo, and Dupont Circle. The Victorian-style rooms are small but comfortable. Many share baths, but those that do also have a sink in the room. A communal kitchen and limited garage parking are available. Rooms don't come with phones or TVs, but there are pay phones, cable TV, and free Wi-Fi in the public areas. A two-night stay is required on weekends, but the hotel is flexible on that rule in the off-season.

An oasis of humanity

Adam's Inn bed and breakfast is a respite from the impersonality in decor and service of most hotels. Every room is unique, outfitted with artefacts from various periods of U.S. history. The mattresses are firm, there are ceiling fans and a wonderful breakfast room where chatting with other travelers comes as naturally and easy as the granola, oatmeal and bagels.
