The Jefferson Review

For a moment, after the top hat-clad doorman ushers you into the Jefferson's exquisite marble lobby, you may think you stepped into a different stately residence down the street—at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Every inch of this 1923 Beaux-Arts luxury hotel has been touched by its recent two-year-long restoration. The small historic hotel once again exudes refined elegance, from the intimate seating areas that take the place of a traditional check-in counter to the delicate blooms and glass atrium at the Greenhouse restaurant. Guest rooms have plush Porthault linens, Italian marble walk-in showers, and televisions recessed into the bathroom mirrors. The hotel's butlers even keep a supply of belts and dress shoes on hand.
