Brickskeller Inn

Fodor's Review:

Run by the same family for 50 years, this 1912 building channels the spirit of a cheap European pension: shared (but clean) baths, tacky linens, and the lowest prices in the neighborhood, if not the city. For some, shag carpeting may be unthinkable at any price, but if you're looking to save on lodging without skimping on location, look no further. The friendly owners are full of sightseeing tips—first stop, their downstairs bar and restaurant, which serves food until 1 am.

  • Hotel Details: 30 rooms, 2 with bath
  • In-room: no TV (some), Internet.
  • In-hotel: restaurant, bar, laundry facilities.
  • Credit Cards: AE, D, DC, MC, V
  • Metro: Dupont Circle
