Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill Review

A favorite for political events, fund-raising dinners, and networking meetings, this property is a solid choice if you're planning on spending a lot of time on the Hill. Expect to find the lobby abuzz with groups getting ready to participate in the political process. The Hyatt often serves as home base for lobbying days, where organizations bring in busloads of people to meet with lawmakers. The hotel is within walking distance of Union Station, home to Amtrak, the Metro, shops, a food court, and restaurants. The recently expanded gift shop serves Starbucks coffee along with fresh pastries, bagels, and other treats. You can feel good about your carbon footprint when you sleep here. The hotel is one of the most environmentally friendly in the city, doing everything from pre-setting thermostats in guest rooms to utilizing earth-friendly cleaning products to monitoring its electrical use each day.

I had looked on the website and thought my online deal was AWESOME, until I got into my room. The lobby is outstanding and what you would expeect of a Hyatt but when you get to your room, you get seriously dissapointed. Ive had bigger beds at places like Doubletree. The bedding is thin and almost nonexistant. The room is a bit small which isn't so bad, but for the price i'm paying I didn't expect to have to pay 9.99 a day for internet service. No fan in the bathroom either so the room gets terribly humid when you shower. I'm pretty dissapointed. I expected more form a Hyatt hotel, but i'm already here and staying 4 nights so I have to make the most of it. Oh yeah, and parking (valet only) is 41 to 48 dollars a night depending on if you have an SUV (the later price) so i had to park elsewhere just to afford parking. In today's economy, I just couldn't take spening nearly 200 bucks on parking alone, even if this was planned well in advance. And my daughter asked that I add in the walls are paper thin too!

This hotel is not in a very good area. There is a "back alley" presence when you arrive at the hotel. The catering services and meeting services at this hotel are horrible. Not only did we have things stolen from our meeting room but one of the catering managers was eating off of our buffet. Totally unprofessional.
