Fodor's Review:

This imposing marble edifice, its bronze entryway topped by a massive eagle, was designed by Folger Library architect Paul Cret. Its appearance seems to say, "Your money's safe with us." Even so, there's no money here (the Fed sets interest rates and thereby seeks to keep the economy on track). The building's stately facade belies a friendlier interior, with a varied collection of art and four special art exhibitions every year.

  • Cost: Free
  • Open: Weekdays 9-5 during art exhibitions, self-guided tours of permanent art collection by appointment only 24 hours in advance; building tours Thurs. at 2:30
  • Metro: Foggy Bottom
