You feel like a guest in a foreign land dining at this restaurant: There's incredible attention to detail in everything from the tapestried chairs to the paintings of Iand the traditional tandoori and curry dishes. Tahli is a variety plate of six or seven curry, lamb, or chicken dishes with rice and bread, served in small bowls or compartments on a silver platter. Wine is presented in a small glass pitcher. Whatever you choose, the experience is as fascinating as the meal.

Heritage India has a 2nd location, on Conn. Ave.(near Dupont Circle), where the food is superb and the bar (yes, the bar!) is exciting and quite popular. Much preferred to Georgetown location. Perhaps the best Indian food in downtown area...but U definitely won't get away with a single $...It's $$-$$$. Worth the expense.
