Fodor's Review

Inside trendy Hotel Monaco, Poste woos diners with a towering skylighted space that until 1901 was the General Post Office. Homing in on Modern American brasserie fare, chef Dennis Marron conjures up such satisfying dishes as beef Bourguignon and steak frites. In season, softshell crabs are not to be missed. For dessert there's the humbly named Peanut Butter Cup, a palate-pleasing chocolate-nut tart with salted peanut sauce. In warmer months the neoclassical courtyard is a serene spot for fruit-infused cocktails and brunch, with an ample build-your-own Bloody Mary bar that's a steal at $8. Year-round, the lively bar inside attracts scenesters with booths on raised platforms.
