Fodor's Review

Here's a perfect marriage of whimsy and elegance—the hotel, designed by Robert Mills (of Washington Monument fame), hosts a nightly wine reception, and will even deliver a goldfish to your room for the duration of your stay. Updated guest rooms are filled with eclectic prints and plush furnishings, accenting the 15-foot vaulted ceilings and other traditional architectural elements of an 1839 neoclassical landmark. Some suites have expansive living rooms perfect for entertaining. Poste Moderne Brasserie and Bar serves French bistro fare with touches of contemporary American cuisine and is considered one of the city's best.
