Salisbury

Salisbury

The town of Salisbury, which comprises the smaller villages of Lakeville and Lime Rock and is home to a pair of noted prep schools (Hotchkiss and Salisbury), occupies the very northwestern corner of the state, and although it's short on formal attractions, it is home to few excellent restaurants, plus a picture-perfect downtown with a smattering of antiques shops and galleries. Country roads traverse the wooded, rolling terrain and are perfect for leisurely bike or car rides. The Appalachian Trails passes through town, crossing Connecticut's highest peak (at 2,316 feet), and Lime Rock Park is home to the prestigious Skip Barber Racing and Driving School, where the likes of Paul Newman and Jerry Seinfeld have been known to zoom around the track.
