Fodor's Review

This private 113-acre hideaway consists of 18 of the most imaginative and luxuriously outfitted cottages you'll ever lay eyes on. Each of the huge one-bedroom cottages has a distinctive, often amusing, theme: the Stone Cottage is made with massive boulders with a wavy-slate roof and an enormous fireplace; the Helicopter Cottage contains—you guessed it—a genuine 17,000-pound U.S. Coast Guard helicopter (the fuselage has been refitted with a wet bar). Bathrooms are all roomy, with deep whirlpool tubs and top-of-the-line amenities. Outside your cottage, you'll find a pair of cruiser bicycles to help you navigate the property—you can take a ride to the tranquil full-service spa. Dining is also a high point here: many of the vegetables are farmed on-site, lending an unmatched freshness to elegant American cuisine. The entire property sits adjacent to the grounds of the White Memorial Conservation Center, ensuring that its bucolic views will be preserved well into the future.
