Stamford Museum and Nature Center

Fodor's Review:

Oxen, sheep, pigs, and other animals roam this 118-acre New England farmstead with many nature trails to explore. Once the estate of Henri Bendel, the property includes a Tudor-revival stone mansion, which houses exhibits surveying natural history, art, and Americana. Also here is a planetarium and observatory with a 22-inch research telescope—perfect for stargazing.

  • Cost: Grounds $8, planetarium an additional $3, observatory an additional $3
  • Open: Grounds daily 9-5; buildings and galleries Jan.-Mar. Tues.-Sun. 11-5, Apr.-Dec. daily 11-5; observatory May-Labor Day 8:30PM-10:30PM, Sept.-Apr. Fri. 8PM-10PM; planetarium shows 2nd Sun. each month at 3PM
