Abbott's Lobster in the Rough
Abbott's Lobster in the Rough Review
If you want some of the state's best lobsters, mussels, crabs, or clams on the half shell, head down to this unassuming seaside lobster shack in sleepy Noank, a few miles southwest of Mystic. Most seating is outdoors or on the dock, where the views of Noank Harbor are magnificent.

I think Abbott's Lobster in the Rough is a bit over-rated and over priced for a causal picnic table eatery. The food was fair considering it's a casual eatery and self service. If anything they do a good PR for their place because there were plenty of people lined up to order. Abbott's was recommended by a friend and hearing about the place on the local news program. There were only the two of us and we ordered the appetizer salad (do not recommend), the lobster roll, lobster sandwich and two soft drinks...our cost was over $50! For that kind of money I think we will be happier going to a seafood restaurant with table service. Sorry, I can't recommend this place, especially if you have a family of 3-4, it's too expensive. You may be paying close to a $100 or more...leave the kids home!

What a dump. Old, run down shack on the water. Nice view, lousy fixtures. Old table and chairs inside, ancient bench tables outside.
Food was not impressive, horrible value for the money. The clam chowder is watery, salty and absent any clams (something they call broth based,) The lobster meal has a small cup of cole slaw and a bag of potato chip (best part of meal) They actually served one of our lobsters covered with seaweed or algea - disgusting. What a horrible experience. The worst restaurant I have been to in my life! -

We ate at Abbott's this past weekend. First, the lobster "roll" was served on a sesame seed hamburger bun! We are not from New England, but understand this is just wrong. We ordered corn on the cob and my husband had to send his back for another one. He ordered 1/2 dozen oysters and one was bad. The lady at the table next to us sent her lobster back because it had no claw meat. Don't know what's happened to Abbott's since the Fodor's review but we won't go again nor would we recommend it. Maine is the place for lobster rolls!
