Fodor's Review

This 1784 inn was once a well-regarded bookstore, so it's no surprise that rooms in the cozy main house and carriage house are named after New England authors. Some have working fireplaces and whirlpool tubs, and each is a welcoming and comfortable mix of antiques and owner-innkeeper Michael Cardillo Jr.'s personal touches. You can enjoy a game of checkers by the oversize Colonial hearth in the keeping room; a full country breakfast is served.
