Crystal sparkles, silver shines, and candles glow in the formal dining room of this grand country inn, lauded for its excellent French country cuisine. A four prix-fixe menu is presented each evening, by a competent and knowledgeable staff. Notable recent dishes have included a starter of Catalan-style grilled vegetables drizzled with smoked olive oil and imported sea salt, and an entrée of venison au poivre over a potato-and-celery-root puree with crisp green beans. The 4,000-bottle wine cellar is one of the best in the state.
