Fodor's Review:

Built in 1881, the Goodwin is an ornate, dark-red structure across the street from the civic center in the heart of the city. Rooms are tastefully appointed with rich wood furnishings, sleigh beds, and marble baths. The hotel is undergoing a massive $12 million renovation through 2009. Its Pierpont's Restaurant is a popular breakfast spot. Pros: central location, historic building, polished staff. Cons: major renovations ongoing through 2009.
