Fodor's Review:

Sometimes the simple pleasures mean the most. The Chester-Hadlyme Ferry is the second-oldest continually operating ferry in the country (begun in 1769) Although the trip across the Connecticut River to Hadlyme aboard the Selden III, the current vessel, is swift, you'll still catch nice views of the valley and Gillette Castle.

  • Cost: Vehicle and driver $3, walk-ons $1
  • Open: Apr.-Nov., weekdays 7-6:45; weekends 10:30-5
