Phelps Tavern Museum

Fodor's Review:

Headquarters of the Simsbury Historical Society, this museum is in a Colonial house built in 1771 for Captain Elijah Phelps and his family. Period-furnished rooms constitute the permanent exhibit, which highlights the home's use as a tavern from 1786 to 1849, when it was a stop on the Farmington Canal. You can learn about Simsbury's history, and view a period garden on the 2-acre grounds.

  • Cost: $6
