The rooms at this large restored New England country manor on a hill overlooking Simsbury contain a judicious mix of antiques and modern furnishings. The main house was built in 1820 and has an 1890 addition on its west side. Rooms are decorated with period fabrics and antiques, and most have four-poster, mahogany canopy beds. Pros: centrally located, the personal service of a romantic inn but anonymity of a larger property, attractive hilltop setting. Cons: on a busy road, no recreational facilities on site (although guests have free access at nearby health club).
