Chester

Upscale boutiques and artisans' studios fill the chiefly 19th-century buildings along Chester's quaint and well-preserved Main Street. Chester sits on a portion of the Connecticut River, which that has been named "one of the last great places on earth" by the Nature Conservancy. It is also the starting point of the Chester–Hadlyme Ferry, which crosses the river in a grand total of five minutes.
