Terra Bistro
Terra Bistro Review
With spacious glass windows and track lighting, this sleek, sophisticated space in the Vail Mountain Lodge & Spa looks as if it belongs in a big city. Only the fireplace reminds you that this is Vail. The menu focuses on contemporary American cuisine that throws in a few Asian, Mediterranean, and Southwestern influences. Grilled Amish beef tenderloin with Yukon mashed potatoes and cornmeal-crusted Rocky Mountain trout with sweet-potato hash are headliners; organic produce and free-range meat and poultry are used whenever possible.

Upon the advice of Fodors, we stayed at this hotel and couldn't be happier. The Terra Bistro was very good even though our service lacked some basics -the food was well thought out and had some great flavors.

snobby and pretentious. I dont think they liked the way we were dressed and they sat us as far from the main dining room as they could. I would normally overlook snobby or rude behaviour if the food was good, since I can sometime explain why a bunch of minium wage earning seasonal workers somehow feel snobby just by being in Vail. unfortunately the food was very disappointing and overpriced which just made it worse. My salmon was terribly overcooked and bland. my wife's lamb was cold. what else can I. stay away.

First they lost our reservation then grilled us to find out if we were lying. The manager finally gave us a table after a 15 minute wait. The waitress was borderline rude, did not tell us the specials (told every table around us), never checked on us, forgot our wine with the entrees and our coffees and barely thanked us when dropping the $200 bill (for 2 adults/2 children!). The sommelier never came to our table to "present his award-winning wine list". The food was good, not great, and definitely not worth being treated like second-class citizens. Take your wallet to the Bighorn Bistro (in Vail Racket Club) - romantic atmosphere, very friendly staff, great food and reasonable prices (that is, for Vail).
