Fodor's Review

Fried-chicken joints usually require several napkins to mop up the grease and a long workout the next day to make up for the indulgence—not so at Yellowbelly. Order the fried white or fried dark plate—this gluten-free recipe is as tasty as it gets without weighting you down too much for an afternoon on the slopes. Emphasizing locally sourced (and never frozen) ingredients, this in-and-out lunch spot serves great sides, and you get two with your main dish. Consider

Brussels slaw, citrus quinoa, macaroni pie, or the sea-salted "smashed potatoes." At the Boylan soda fountain, enjoy cane-sugar root beer and black cherry sodas. The location in West Vail Mall is inconvenient if you don't have a car, but it's worth finding a way to get here.
