Getting Here and Around
Modern and busy, Denver International Airport (DEN) 800/247-2336 www.flydenver.com) moves travelers in and out efficiently. There's also Colorado Springs Airport (COS 719/550-1900 www.flycos.com) and a number of smaller airports near resorts—Steamboat Springs, Aspen, and Telluride.
In Denver some of the hotels provide free shuttles, and the free Mall shuttle and light rail make it easy to get around the metro area. You can travel to some major ski areas by pre-arranged shuttle van. Amtrak (303/534-2812 www.amtrak.com) has stops in Denver, Winter Park, Glenwood Springs, Grand Junction, Trinidad, and La Junta.
Any other travel, however, makes a car an absolute necessity. Always check on road conditions, as the weather in the foothills and mountains can be unpredictable. Colorado Road Condition Hotline (303/639-1111 near Denver, 303/639-1234 statewide www.cotrip.org).
