The somewhat forbidding exterior at this luxury resort no longer seems worth mentioning when you first catch sight of Mount Wilson, the peak pictured on every can of Coors. Make sure to ask for a room with a balcony. The rooms are sizable, decorated in Norwegian wood and muted shades of green. The range of activities here is vast, from an indoor pool to tennis courts—there's even an indoor climbing wall. And then there are the invigorating, revitalizing treatments at the five-story Golden Door Spa. More than 55 treatments are offered in the 44 private rooms, from skin-tightening wraps to muscle-taming massages. Pros: spacious rooms, great views, something for everyone. Cons: easy to feel overwhelmed, popular activities are often booked well in advance.
