William Jennings Bryan delivered his rousing "Cross of Gold" speech here in 1896, garnering a presidential nomination in the process. Antiques fill the space, from old tintypes to fringed lamps, marble-top dressing tables to red velour love seats. The four Aspen rooms are a great value; each has a queen-size bed and shares a single-sex bathroom with multiple sinks and showers. The gorgeous Victorian-era bar, a favorite among locals, is the original. A complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea complete the picture of gracious fin de siècle living. Pros: charming atmosphere, accommodating staff. Cons: when it's full, the shared baths can be annoying.
