One of the loveliest buildings in town is the Beaumont Hotel. This 1887 landmark, a confection of French, Italian, and Romanesque Revival design, stood vacant for years before Dan and Mary King set about restoring it. The project cost millions of dollars -- the owners strove for perfection at every step. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
