There are lots of trails in this region, for varying abilities. Inquire locally for directions to the trailheads. Many follow logging roads, so it's best to get the latest scoop on conditions from a resident. Ambitious hikers often overnight in Lake City before attempting three of Colorado's easier Fourteeners. Sunshine and Redcloud are generally climbed together, and Handies is across the valley. This means it is fairly easy for fit hikers to bag three Fourteeners in just two days.
