The Wyman Hotel and Inn

1371 Greene St., Silverton, Colorado, 81433, USA

On the National Register of Historic Places, this wonderful red-sandstone building dates from 1902. The walls are two feet thick, so the builders obviously expected it to last a while. Rooms are each uniquely decorated with interesting period antiques, and some have high ceilings and beautiful arched windows. Four rooms have whirlpool tubs. In summer, you can opt to stay in the inn's romantically refurbished "Candlelight Caboose," a converted train car with a private hot tub. Full breakfast in a small but elegant dining room, afternoon tea, and a wine and cheese social hour are included.
