Top Reasons to Go

The Colorado Trail: Bike, hike, or photograph the more than 500 mi of volunteer-maintained trail traversing six wilderness areas and eight mountain ranges from Durango to Denver, with breathtaking views of old-growth forests alternating with wildflower-covered meadows, lakes, and creeks.

Mountain Biking Crested Butte: There's a reason the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame resides here -- the town is one of the birthplaces of fat-tire biking, and the up-close mountain scenery, sweet single-track, and the sheer variety of trails and terrain are a testament to the reason of it's location.

Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad: This year-round, nine-hour journey along the Animas River from Durango to Silverton will take you back in time. The train is powered by coal and steam and the railroad line has been in continuous operation since 1882. The views include dramatic canyons and the sweeping panoramas of the San Juan National Forest.

Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding at Telluride Ski Resort: There's rarely a wait to get at the sweeping, groomed trails and seemingly endless tree runs and moguls available at this, the largest collection of 14,000-foot mountains in the country. Expansive views, varied terrain, and remote slopes that hold powder add to the experience.
