High on a mesa southeast of Durango, Fort Lewis College adds a college-town vibe to the city. Visitors often stop by the school's Center of Southwest Studies gallery on the north end of campus to view its rotating exhibitions of contemporary artists, Native American treasures, and Western cultural collections. The gallery is open on weekday afternoons.
